This edition of Museumpeil was created by the Dutch Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage, Werkplaats immaterieel erfgoed (BE) and Museumpeil. We want to use this to provide museums in the Netherlands and Flanders with information about 'reliable' intangible heritage. In this way we hope to inspire and encourage them to participate more with intangible heritage communities and thus contribute to the implementation of the UNESCO 2003 Convention in the coming years. This will certainly lead to a reconsideration of the significance of the role of museums in contemporary society and possibly to a revision of the international museum definition.
