Inventory of Intangible Heritage in the Netherlands
The Dutch Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage coordinates the Inventory of Intangible Heritage in the Netherlands, published on www.immaterieelerfgoed.nl . The Inventory helps heritage communities make their intangible heritage visible and ensure its future. As stated in the UNESCO Convention, it is the communities themselves who create and maintain intangible heritage. Inclusion in the Inventory does not imply any moral or value judgment.
The Inventory aims to promote respect, dialogue, and tolerance, and to highlight the diversity of intangible heritage in the Netherlands as experienced by the communities themselves. Before publication, we check whether each submission meets the criteria (that it is intangible heritage) and reviews for inaccuracies or potentially offensive content. Only then is the text published on the website.
