Description

De Maastrichtse Heiligdomsvaart is a religious pilgrimage to the Tomb of St. Servatius in his Basilica in Maastricht that has existed since the thirteenth century . This pilgrimage is held once every 7 years. The cities of Aachen, Hasselt, Tongeren and Susteren have a similar tradition. In Maastricht, during a 10-day program, various religious and cultural events take place during the Heiligdomsvaart, including two large Ommegangen through the old city center (around 2000 participants) on Sundays.
