Handbook Crafts Lab

Innovation of crafts through collaboration between craftsmen, artists and students

Co-operation Museums Onderwijs Participation Education Safeguarding Duurzaamheid

The Dutch Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage took the initiative in 2018 for the AmbachtenLab in the Dutch Open Air Museum.
This is in line with Minister Ingrid van Engelshoven's call in her vision letter 'Culture in an open society' (March 2018) to stimulate new use of old crafts.

With four Labs in the pilot phase (between September 2018 and March 2019), we have developed a method in which artisans, in collaboration with artists / designers and MBO students, can investigate innovation in the craft from all sides.

You can read the entire manual under 'documents'!
